Studio 5 | Bnei Brak in Motion

Bnei Brak is a densely populated city located in the Tel Aviv district of Israel. It is the eighth largest city in terms of population and shares borders with Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan, Petah Tikva, and Givat Shmuel. The city was founded in 1924 by a group of Hassidim from Warsaw, Poland, who aimed to create an agricultural and Hasidic colony. They purchased land from the nearby Arab village, Aven Avrik. By 1949, Bnei Brak was declared a city.

The city has urban principles that reflect the culture of its residents, and it strives to provide for their needs within its boundaries. Currently, most residents live in the southern part of the city, where most programs and services are also located. To address the city's growth and improve accessibility to the northern part of the city, a plan was proposed to create an urban continuum. Two different strategies were proposed to connect the urban continuum while maintaining and strengthening the city's urban and cultural principles.
